CRPF Synergy Cup-2011 cricket tournament concluded Sports serves as health elixir for youth: Chib
Gives away prizes to winner, runner-up teams

SRINAGAR, OCTOBER 21: Saying that sports play an important role in shaping the personality of youth, Minister for Youth Services and Spots Mr. R S Chib said that sports events serve as health elixir for youth and nurture them both mentally and physically.
The Minister was speaking at the closing ceremony of CRPF Synergy Cup-2011 cricket tournament at CRPF Camp Humhama last evening.
Mr. Chib said the state has vast potential in every sports and need was to channelize the sports talent by proper training, support and facilities, adding that the government under the stewardship of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah is giving due attention for the development of players and promoting sports as culture in the state.
The Minister appreciated the role of CRPF playing in internal security of the country. He said besides serving in tough state of affairs, it also serve the people under Sadhbhavna by organizing free medical camps and sports tournaments, providing computers in educational institutions and sports kits.
The Minister complimented the organizers and announced cricket kits for participant teams as a token of encouragement.
Referring to Kashmir Premier League (KPL) held in Kashmir Division this year, Mr. Chib said to provide an opportunity to the talented cricketers of the Jammu division, a cricket tournament of same style will also be organized in Jammu Division in November this year.
Earlier, the Minister gave away prizes and trophies among winner, runner-up and participant teams. He distributed special awards to students of DPS, JK Public School and KV-No.2 who are emerging as budding sports persons. Syed Muzamil and Aish Mohammad were also awarded as best referees.
The tournament organized by CRPF 35 BN was commenced on October 15 and culminated on October 20th, 2011in which as many as 8 local cricket teams participated. The final of the tournament was played between Friends’- XI cricket club Humhama and Airlines-XI in which Friends’ XI cricket club emerged as winner securing 131 runs losing one wicket.
Inspector General, CRPF Dr. Ravi Parkash Maharda said that cricket is becoming very popular game in the valley and organizing of the tournament was an attempt to explore the hidden cricket talent of the youth.
Among others, Director, Youth Services and Sports S. Jaipal Singh, all ranks of CRPF and sports lovers were present on the occasion.
