Jammu Frontier emerges overall champion in BSF Games | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Sports & Allied News JAMMU, Oct 21: Jammu Frontier lifted the overall championship trophy after the host contingent secured maximum 31 points to top the medals tally in the five-day XXXIII Inter-Frontier BSF (Border Security Force) Games that came to an end with the holding of valedictory function at BSF Stadium, here today. Second place went to Gujarat Frontier with 25 points while Assam and Maghalya (A&M) remained third obtaining 24 points. Punjab finished fourth with 13 points. Rest of the seven participating Frontiers could not touch the double figure mark in points tally. Earlier, Jammu Frontier clinched four championship trophies in team events of Boxing, Weightlifting, Wrestling (Free Style) and Judo. Tripura lifted the Gymnastics title while Wrestling (Greco Roman) went to Rajasthan Frontier. In the final and prize distribution function, Inspector General of BSF Jammu Frontier, A K Jain was chief guest, who gave away team championship trophies. He appreciated the athletes of host Jammu Frontier for winning the overall trophy and was all praise for Gujarat and A&M Frontiers for making it a close contest. The IG BSF declared the Games closed by handing over the tournament flag to the members of BSF Sports Board. Later, DIG Varinder Singh presented vote of thanks. To make the closing function colourful and memorable, young students from BSF School presented cultural programme, which enthralled the special guest and the participants. In all, about 1000 athletes, representing 11 Frontiers of the BSF, participated in Games.
