DGP hands over appointment orders to 108 SPOs Addresses maiden Police Durbar at Srinagar

Srinagar, Oct 22: The Director General of Police, Kuldeep Khoda has asserted that Jammu and Kashmir Police would take all measures to maintain complete and lasting peace in the State.
Khoda was addressing maiden Police Durbar at Police Control Room, Srinagar today in which a large number of police jawans and officers from executive and armed police Kashmir Zone participated. He urged the jawans that our aim should be to serve and provide better police service to the public at all levels.
Appreciating the role of jawans and officers, the DGP said that JKP has demonstrated great valour and courage while maintaining law and order in the State. He said that it was due to the tremendous efforts put in by JKP and other security agencies that the security situation in the State has evolved positively besides people’s yearning for peace and normalcy. The unrest in some previous years was a test for the force and JKP stood the test despite of provocations by the anti-social and other elements, inimical to peace, he added. Despite various police personnel sustained injuries as a result of violence, they exhibited high sense of professionalism and discipline to bring peace and public order, said the DGP.
Khoda said that JKP is unique for its multifarious functions and despite being a civil force it never shirked from the duties which are normally being under taken by armed forces. He said that being a visible law enforcing body, the force has always been an eyesore of the criminals and thus had to face very unenviable situations while dealing with them. Our brave jawans and officers never showed back towards the assignments involving even the loss of their lives, he added.
The DGP said that the Organization has improved its training skills and our jawans and officers have been acquainted with latest methods of policing. He said that during the recent operations against militants, our men have ensured the safety of civilian lives and public property. Besides, mob controlling without using lethal weapons to avoid loss of human lives has been ensured through latest techniques of policing, said the DGP. He said that police has the primary role in maintaining peace and order in the society to ensure dignity and honour of common man. He further said that police serves as a bridge between public and the government, and we have to work with more consciousness and sincerity to keep the trust of the people, they have pinned with the force.
Earlier, the Additional Director of Police, (Armed/L&O) K Rajendra Kumar also addressed the durbar. He gave detailed resume of the deployment of man power for maintaining law and order in the State. He said that the force is vigilant to face any emerging situation and to foil nefarious designs of violence mongers.
He also appreciated the role of police in ensuring a peaceful summer in the Valley resulting in huge rush of tourists and un-interrupted working of educational institutions. He assured that force would scale new heights of success in future with the cooperation of people
Inspector General of Police, Kashmir Zone, S M Sahai welcomed the DGP and others senior officers for taking a maiden durbar of jawans and officers.
Inspector General of Police (Armed), Kashmir, Mr. Rauf-ul-Hassan also addressed the durbar and gave detailed account of working of armed police personnel in the valley.
Among others, the durbar was attended by Inspectors General of Police, Dr. B. Srinivas, H. K. Lohia, Deputy Inspectors Generals of Police, P. R. Manhas, Yoginder Koul, Muneer Ahmad Khan, A. Q. Manhas, Shafakat Watali and K. L. Bhagat, all Kashmir based district Sr. Superintendents of Police and Commandants of IRP/JKAP.
