Health care facilities to ex-servicemen, widows | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Udhampur, Oct 23: Large number of ex-servicemen and widow pensioners reside in remote villages along the Dhar-Udhampur road. Udhampur is the nearest military station with support facilities for these ex-servicemen and their dependents. In view of the long distances and difficulties involved in commuting to Udhampur an Ex-Servicemen Contributory Health Scheme Polyclinic has been opened at Nagrota in Kathua District, under the aegis of Headquarters Northern Comd, to provide health care facilities to ex-servicemen and widows. The ECHS polyclinic was inaugurated by General Officer Commanding,71Sub Area Major General AK Sehgal in the presence of Brigadier Davis PP, Commander, 611 (Independent) Air Defence Brigade, Adm Comandant 71 Sub Area, Brig Randhwal, other Army offrs, civil dignitaries and a large number of ex servicemen from the locality. What was started as a ex-servicemen helpline with assistance from North Star Air Defence Brigade has now matured into a polyclinic employing medical specialists and adequate staff. The polyclinic which has started functioning from a temporary hired accommodation will eventually be shifted to a separate building which has been sanctioned by Ministry of Defence
