Accession Day observed
10/23/2011 9:44:53 PM
Early Times Report
JAMMU, October 23 : In connection with the Accession Day, a grand function was organized by Sanjeevani Sharda Kendra at Sharda Bhawan, Anand Nagar, and Bohri Jammu.
Dr Jitendra Singh, National Executive Member and Chief Spokesperson BJP who is also a renowned Diabetologist and author, was the chief guest on the occasion. Eminent poet and historian P.N Madup presided over the function.
Dr Jitendra Singh, in his address, said the accession of J&K with India is full and final. Maharaja Hari Singh acceded Jammu & Kashmir to dominion of India on October 26 1947 under a legitimate instrument of accession and Lord Mountbatten, the then Governor General of India, signed the acceptance on October 27, 1947.
J&K State Constituent Assembly on February 6, 1956 also ratified the state's accession to India..
Dr Jitendra Singh said that those who argue that there was “Accession not Merger” are either ignorant or misinformed because the “merger” clause was generally applicable in respect of small erstwhile princely states merging with larger States of Indian dominion. The only unfinished agenda now left is to get back the territory of J&K presently under illegal occupation of Pakistan , he added.
Noted Kashmiri poet P N Shad was guest of honour. A number of renowned poets and writers participated and recited their valuable poems regarding the importance of Accession day and on National Integration.
An exhibition of the Martyrs of 1947 was also displayed on the occasion.
