| Sex racket finds mention in Assembly | | | Srinagar: The sex racket case found a brief mention in the Jammu and Kashmir assembly today though the speaker refused any reference to the issue saying it was 'subjudice'.
National Panther's Party member Balwant Singh Mankotia asked Speaker Tarachand if he would summon MLAs G A Mir and Raman Matoo, arrested by CBI in connection with the sex racket, to take part in the proceedings of the house as they were its elected representatives.
However, Tarachand said the issue could not be entertained as the matter was subjudice.
Earlier, Manjit Singh, an independent member, brought to the notice of the speaker the indefinite strike by members of the Jammu Bar Association seeking transfer of the sex racket case outside Kashmir valley which entered the 34th day today.
Fourteen persons, including the two former ministers, two police officers, former additional advocate general, a BSF DIG and the alleged kingpin of the racket Sabeena have been arrested so far in connection with the case.
