| PCB organizes workshop on biomedical waste management | | |  EARLY TIMES REPORT
REASI,OCTOBER 23:- With a view to manage the indiscriminate disposal of hospital wastes, the State Pollution Control Board, Reasi organized a District Level Workshop and training programme on Biomedical Waste Management for medicos and Para-medicos of the district here at Reasi township.
Chief Medical Officer, Reasi, Dr. Adarsh Kumar who was the chief guest on the occasion inaugurated the workshop.
Threadbare discussions were held to chalkout strategies for the management and disposal of bio medical wastes generated in the hospitals .
Experts drawn from health and SPCB, including Block Medical Officer, Reasi, Dr. Rajinder Sambyal, Scientist, Dr. Anju Sida, Dr, Seema Choudhary and Dr. P.S. Thakur delivered lectures on different aspects of bio medical wastes management in the health institutions.
Speakers were of the opinion that medical waste should be managed according to its type and characteristics. For better management, the waste should be managed at every step, from acquisition to disposal, they said and added that correct procedure would help to protect health care workers, patients and the local community. District Officer Pollution Control Board Reasi, Mr. Angrez Singh presented vote of thanks.
