Omar needs to go if he continues to tinker with AFSPA: Swami | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu, Oct 23: Former union minister and President Janta Party Subramanian Swamy on Sunday minced no word to take on the Chief Minister Omar Abdullah and demanded that he should be dismissed if he continue to tinker with the sensitive issue of revocation of Armed Forces Special Power Act (AFSPA).
“Chief Minister Omar Abdullah has no right to speak on Armed Forces Special Power Act (AFSPA) and if makes any attempt to repeal the laws from Jammu and Kashmir, he must be dismissed and the President’s rule should be imposed forthwith,” Swamy told reporters here.
The former union minister was speaking in a function organised by Jammu Kashmir Peoples Forum (JKPF) for celebrating 64th year of J&K Accession with India Union.
“Only Defence Minster of the India does have jurisdiction of revoking AFSPA. The statements of Omar Abdullah make us believe that he doesn’t know anything about the constitution of India,” he mocked.
The former union minister also vouched for permanent settlement of displaced Kashmiri Pandits (KPs) in Kashmir Valley and said that “10 lakh ex-servicemen equipped with weapons should be sent to valley prior to return of KPs.”
“There is no need to be defensive and we need to be clear in our mind. We will send 10 lakh ex-servicemen (double than displaced KPs) equipped with weapons from different parts of the country to Kashmir Valley for ensuring the safety of the KPs. They will be paid money and will be asked to settle there,” Swamy said.
Swamy said there were one crore ex-servicemen sitting idle at their homes and they were waiting for an opportunity to serve the country.
He also described the Article 370 as a “temporary provision” and said it could be abolished at any point of time by the President of India through an ordinance.
He also rejected the report of centre-appointed interlocutors saying it had remained damp squib and did not find any taker in Kashmir Valley.
Subramanian also took on Prashant Bhushan’s statement and said there was no place for referendum on Kashmir in the Indian constitution as India possesses all rights on Jammu and Kashmir’s each and every inch land.
Sending a strong message that come what may, India will never leave Kashmir since the instrument of accession was signed by Majaraja Hari Singh with Indian government was full and final, he remarked “I want to tell Kashmiris that Indian government will never leave Kashmir. After the accession of J&K with India, what Jawahar Lal Nehru and Mountbaten said holds no weight. Jammu and Kashmir is the integral part of India”.
He also expressed concern over growing Talibanization in Pakistan saying “Relationship between Taliban and Pakistan army is a sign of great danger to Indian union. It is sure that the Pakistan Army will rule the country as the Army commanders are able to topple any democratic government there.”
“There are 80 percent army officers, who are likely to be next army commanders in Pakistan, belong to Taliban. The situation itself becomes worrying in view of ISI and Taliban continuous support to Pakistan Army,” he said.
On the 2G scam, Swamy said, “Home minister P. Chidambaram should also be made co accused in 2G spectrum allotment scam. As he alongwith A Raja decided to allocate the 2G”.
CBI has failed to question P Chidambaram. I have gathered substantial facts clearly leading to involvement of P. Chidambaram in the scam and will try all means that he should not remain scot free”.
Swamy said that he have full faith in the Supreme Court and all the decisions I this regard will taken in next six months.
He clearly pointed, “This 2G scandal has links with 10 Janpath also, as Robert Vadhera son-in-law of UPA Chairperson and AICC President Sonia Gandhi, is also beneficiary of the scam booty. In coming days the involvement of both Sonia Gandhi and Robert Vadhera will also come into light. 10-12 more influential persons including politicians name would also come up in coming days.
Earlier, leaders of various political parties, including BJP MLA Jugal Kishore Sharma, JKNPP MLA Balwant Singh Mankotia, JSM MLA Ashwani Kumar Sharma, Congress leader Abdul Gani Kohli and JKPF convenor Ramesh Sabherwal also spoke on the occasion.
