32 stranded passenger rescued | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Srinagar Oct 23:- District Administration Kishtwar and Anantnag District in a joint operation rescued at least 32 stranded passenger trapped in snow storm at Sinthan top in Kishtwar District on Kishtwar-Srinagar National Highway. According to Deputy commissioner Kishtwar Mohammad Hussain Malik, 6-7 passenger vehicles were trapped at Sinthan top with over 30 passengers on board. Mr. Malik said that after receiving the information about the trapping of some passenger at Sinthan Top, District Administration Kishtwar flash the message for help to its neighboring District Anantnag, beside mobilizes its own resources. Mr. Malik said that after hectic efforts from 99 RCC GREF and 118 RCC GREF Kishtwar, police and officials of administration, all the trapped passengers were rescued. He said that all the passengers including the drivers of the vehicle were shifted to safer places. He said that the area has witnessed snowfall up to 1-2 feet, due to which the condition of the road became slippery on under construction portion of the road, where all the vehicles got trapped. He said that the vehicular on Kishtwar-Sinthan-Srinagar NH has been temporary stopped till formal clearance of road will be received. He express his gratitude to Deputy Commissioner Anantnag Mr. Kifayat Hussain Rizvi and OC GREF Anantnag for providing all possible help in today’s rescue operation.
