| Desecration of Quran triggers protests | | |

People in thousands took to streets to protests desecration of Holly Quran and mosques at Shangus Anantnag.
According to reports reaching here, unidentified persons desecrated Holly Quran in three mosques at Shangus on Wednesday last and some of the copies of Holly Quran were found near a toilet. People staged protests on Wednesday last till late in the evening. The people continued to hold widespread protests for the second consecutive day today.
Meanwhile a local resident said that some unscrupulously elements intentionally desecrated the copies of Holly Quran which triggered widespread protests in the area. Virally shaken by the disturbing law and order situation, Deputy Commissioner Anantnag and SSP Anantnag and rushed to the area where they assured the people that those found guilty will be punished sternly.
