‘NHPC ‘illegally occupying’ Uri-I, Salal projects’ | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Srinagar, Oct 24: Jammu and Kashmir government on Monday said that National Hydro Power Corporation (NHPC) was ‘illegally occupying’ Uri-I and Salal power projects without having any ownership or lease rights on these projects. Talking to KNS Minister for PHE, Irrigation and Flood Control Taj Mohi-ud-Din said, “NHPC had been given only rights of execution, operation and maintenance of these two projects. Neither state nor central government has given them any ownership rights on these projects.” He revealed that NHPC had ‘illegally occupied’ these two projects. “Government of India had only given rights of execution, operation and maintenance to the NHPC, but they have illegally occupied the projects,” he added. Taj, sources told KNS has written a letter in this regard to Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, who also hold portfolio of power ministry, urging him to ask the NHPC to leave these projects.
