Air Force condole sudden demise of young girl | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu Oct 24: On 22 Oct accident took place involving an Air Force School bus and a two wheeler in Gandhinagar, Jammu. The bus was carrying school children to Kendriya Vidyalaya at the time of the accident. While negotiating a right turn from the main road towards Gole market, Gandhinagar, an over speeding scooty driven by the ill-fated college girl rammed into the bus. The bus had impact marks and discoloration on the rear side of left boarding door. At the time of the accident the 23 yr old girl was not wearing helmet and was over speeding as narrated by the eye witnesses present at the spot. The driver of the bus, on realizing the situation, immediately took the girl to the Govt. Hospital Gandhinagar and later on reported to model police station, Gandhinagar. The driver of the vehicle has a total of 7 ½ yrs of driving experience and he was well conversant on driving the type of the vehicle. The vehicle was fitted with speed governor which cannot exceed a speed of more than 40 Kmph. As the turning is very sharp i.e., 90 degrees and traffic at the site of accident is dense, executing turn at very high speed is not possible. At the time of impact the bus was turning at slow speed and the driver had given appropriate turning indicators. In addition, a hand signal was also given by the attendant of the bus who was sitting just near the boarding door. The signal was well acknowledged by other drivers coming from the same direction as that of the girl. While the other drivers stopped immediately, the girl who was riding the Scooty seemed to be in hurry and didn’t notice the movement and rammed the school bus at the passenger door causing the fateful incident.
