Court grants interim bail to Dr. Javed Iqbal

Jammu, October-24:- State High Court today granted interim bail to Dr. Javed Iqbal allegedly involved in the much publicized dowry case after 40 days of his arrest.
Justice JP Singh of J&k High Court after hearing advocate JP Gandhi for the doctor and advocate AK Sawhney assisted advocate Aseem Sawhney appearing for the Gurpreet @ Smaira Choudhary granted interim upto November 1, 2011. The order was dictated in the open Court by Justice JP Singh in which directed both the parties to settle the matter and informed the Court on November 1, 2011.
According to the case while Javed Iqbal was doing his MS Surgery at PGI Chandigarh, he met with Gurpreet Kour and they fell into love each other. In that period the accused Dr. Javed Iqbal assured the complainant for marriage. On completion of his course he left the Chandigarh and did not contact the complainant. Then complainant got the telephone number of Dr. Javed Iqbal and came Jammu, from Jammu to she when to Rajouri where she met the relatives and family members of the accused where they decided to conduct marriage of both but it was not a correct as per the statement of complainant than the complainant filed a complaint before the SSP Rajouri and case u/s 376 was registered against the accused Dr. Javed Iqbal. Upon this family members of Javed Iqbal asked the complainant to convert into Islam, she agreed and thereafter and she married with the Dr. Javed Iqbal but after marriage the demand of the husband and other relatives for dowry. She arranged more than Rs 50 lacs but thereafter her husband and his relatives taunting her and her husband beating her. Upon this she filed a complaint in the Court of CJM Jammu u/s 498-A RPC. CJM sent this complaint to women cell. In the complainant stated that besides committing physical torture, mental & sexual tortures, the accused have misappropriate property of Rs 50 lacs for which she has filed a separate complaint before the Court. Police registered a case u/ 498-A/420/409/406/120-B RPC.
