| Hakeem convenes meeting of JKSRTC Officers | | | Jammu, Jan 4 Minister for Transport Hakeem Mohammad Yaseen today convened a meeting of Officers of Jammu and Kashmir State Road Transport Corporation (JKSRTC) to finalise agenda for the 65th Board of Director’s meeting to be held shortly. During the meeting, the Minister suggested measures for improving the sector and giving better transport facilities to the tourists. He directed the authorities to identify and analyze the routes which are in loss so that the vehicles could be diverted to other convenient ones. He asked the concerned to made necessary formalities for auction of the old vehicles lying in the transport yard. The meeting was informed that out of 1150 vehicles, 850 are functional and out of 450 passenger buses 105 vehicles are operating on interstate routes. It was also apprised that 117 vehicles including trucks and coaches were destroyed due to militancy during the turmoil period and no new vehicle has been purchased since last 15 years. Like Pahalgam Guest House, guest house one each in Jammu and Srinagar would be constructed soon to raise infrastructure for the convenience of tourists, the meeting informed. Among others, Commissioner Secretary Transport Mr. Nargotra, Managing Director Transport Mr. Sanjeev Verma and other senior officers of the corporation were also present in the meeting. |
