| CRPF personnel celebrates Diwali in Kashmir | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
Srinagar, Oct 27 : Personnel of the Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) paramilitary force celebrated Diwali with great fervour and joy here on Wednesday.
Soldiers exchanged sweets among themselves and burst firecrackers on the occasion.
P C Jha, Commandant 21 Battalion CRPF, said CRPF personnel were overwhelmed with the warm response they got from civilians in the valley.
“This is one festival in which along with the lamps our wishes are also enlightened with happiness. Looking at this, we are celebrating this festival with you. We are grateful to the locals of the city for their support and we hope that they will continue supporting us in future. As you know, we are living far away from our homes, so we consider this as our home only,” said Jha.
Spreading a message of communal harmony, Mushtak Kenu, Senior Superintendent of Police, Central Reserve Police Force, said they stand united for the nation.
“Today is an auspicious day. Just as Eid is celebrated by Muslims, Diwali is celebrated by Hindus. We all are with them. I would also like to greet people and the police forces. We offer them greetings on such a big occasion. This is our brotherhood, and the solidarity of Kashmiri people, which unites Hindus, Muslims and Sikhs. We always try to live in peace and harmony with our Hindu and Sikh brethren,” said Kenu.
