DPL T20: Rajesh’s ton guides Police XI to final | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Oct 27: A splendid knock of unbeaten century by former Ranji cricketer and skipper, Rajesh Gill today guided Police XI to a big 79 runs win on way to the final of ongoing Diwali Premier League (DPL) Twenty20 Cricket Tournament at MA Stadium, here. In the last league tie of the last round, Rajesh made 101 runs not out off just 65 balls including eight boundaries and a six. The superb innings of this senior cricketer helped the side set a big 190 runs target for the loss of two wickets. Amit, Shashi and Manzoor (not out) contributed 30, 23 and 25 runs respectively to Police XI total. From Doordarshan, Girdhari and Puneet took one wicket each. Later, Doordarshan XI could not chase the total and bowled out for 110 runs losing eight wickets. Manjeet was top scorer with 56 runs while Atul added 11 runs. Shamsher was most successful bowler from Police XI, who clinched three wickets. Naresh took two wickets, followed by D Pathania, Jatinder and Amit with one wicket each. For his brilliant batting, Rajesh Gill was declared man of the match. Meanwhile, in the last league tie of the tournament, scheduled for October 29 (Saturday), Ishar XI shall take on Simula XI. The winner of this match shall play against J&K Police in the title clash.
