| Opening of Silikote transit point postponed indefinetely | | | Srinagar: The opening of Silikote transit point along the Line of Control (LoC) in Uri sector today was indefinetely postponed as Pakistan said it was not prepared for it, a defence spokesman said.
During a flag meeting between Indian and Pakistani army at Silikote yesterday, the spokesman said Islamabad expressed their inability to open the transit point for the crossing over of people from both Jammu and Kashmir and Pakistan- Occupied Kashmir (PoK) due to lack of adequate preparedness.
The spokesman said Pakistan has not conveyed any new date for the opening of the point. Silikote was one of the five crossing points suggested by Prime Minister Manmohan Singh to facilitate the passage of relief material following the devastating earthquake in October 8, last year.
While Nauseri-Teetwal, Chakan-da-Bagh-Rawalakote, Chakoti-Kaman and Tattapani-Mendhar crossing points were opened, the opening of Silikote-Hajipir has been postponed and was scheduled to open today. |
