Industrial expo concludes, Romesh highlights efficacy

The 30th Industries and Handicrafts Exhibition concluded here this evening with gaiety and fun fair.
Minister of State for Industries and Commerce Dr. Romesh Chander Sharma was the chief guest.
More than one and half lakh people visited the month long exhibition and evinced keen interest in various entertainment and trade related activities that marked the exhibition.
Various departments had installed stalls in the exhibition depicting functioning of the departments and schemes being implemented for the public benefits. Various programmes and stalls, which formed part of the exhibition, provided ample information and education to the people regarding developmental aspects.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Sharma underscored the importance of organizing such exhibitions regularly to help businessmen, traders and self help groups of women to showcase their products, develop market contacts and enhance business activities in manifolds.
He said these exhibitions also provide entertainment facilities to the people especially kids and also help to provide purposeful information to the general public about various developmental aspects in the state alongwith latest technical know how.
Director Industries and Commerce Mr. J. L. Gupta also spoke on the occasion and informed that industrial products worth one and half crore were sold during the exhibition period and assured during the next exhibition which is scheduled to be held during the month of April, 2007 the entrepreneurs from adjoining state would also be invited to display their products along with sale of local products at cheaper rates than that of market rates so that large number of people can avail benefit of the exhibition. Similarly there will be more amusing cultural bonanza.
Among other Commissioner/Secretary Industries and Commerce Mr.. Lokesh Jha, Director Handicrafts and Handloom, Managing Directors SIDCO, J&K Mineral, prominent citizens and noted industrialists were present on the occasion.
