Khajuria visits Municipal Mkt, Parade, accesses fire losses | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Oct 27:Jammu East MLA Ashok Khajuria paid a visit to have an on-the-spot assessment of the losses and damages caused by extensive fire engulfing Municipal Market, Parade, on the night of Diwali. He was accompanied by party National Executive Member and State Chief Spokesperson Dr Jitendra Singh, State Secretary Yudhvir Sethi, State Press Secretary Balbir Ram and senior leader Vijay Mahajan. Ashok Khajuria and others went around the market and interacted with each affected shopkeeper, who briefed about their losses amounting to lakhs of rupees. Market Association President Raj Gupta, giving details about the accident, said that out of a total of 35 Municipal Shops situated in the said market, 22 of them have suffered almost total losses as every item, furniture and other commodities got engulfed in the fire. Expressing his concern and sympathies with the shopkeepers, Ashok Khajuria said it is unfortunate that this Diwali turned out to be black Diwali for them as it brought miseries to the poor shopkeepers who had to face heavy losses. He said these shops have been the only source of bread earning for the families of shopkeepers and with this accident the families too have been put to problems. Khajuria assured these shopkeepers to take up their cases on priority and will see to it that the district administration prepares their losses assesment report on time and that they get the full compensation to start their works once again in the market.
