Fake currency note racket busted; BJP leader's PSO among 3 held | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Oct 27: Two cops, including a personal security officer (PSO) of senior BJP leader Kuldeep Raj Gupta, and a medical student were today arrested by police in Rajouri for allegedly running a fake currency racket in the border districts of Rajouri and Poonch. Gupta was also being questioned by police as the arrested PSO was said to be attached with him for the past one decade, police sources said. Acting on a tip-off, police arrested medical student Mohammad Altaf, son of Mohammad Shakoor of Darhal, Rajouri, for his alleged involvement in the fake currency racket. Sources said during his interrogation, Altaf allegedly told police that cops -- Pawan Kumar, son of Tikri Ram, and Netar Prakash, son of Krishan Lal -- were part of the racket. Pawan, who at present was posted with bomb disposal squad at Rajouri, was alleged to be the kingpin. Netar is Gupta's PSO. While Pawan had been apprehended, Netar was evading arrest, the sources added. Sources said the alleged involvement of Netar, who was picked up from Gupta's residence in Rajouri town, in the unlawful activity was also confirmed by Pawan during his questioning. The search of Netar's quarter later led cops to the recovery of fake currency notes of Rs 17,500, all in the denomination of Rs 500. Sources said some half printed notes of Indian currency were also recovered from his official kit. Parts of a machine, used for printing fake notes, were also allegedly recovered from his quarter, the sources added. A case in this regard was registered at Rajouri police station. Sources said the grilling of the two accused was on till late tonight. Gupta was also being questioned, the sources added.
