Kingpin among 2 more held in fake currency racket | | | JAMMU: A day after laying hands on two key members of a fake currency racket, including a police cop and an ENT school, Rajouri police today arrested two more persons, including the alleged kingpin. A high-quality printer, a scanner and other items which were being used for making counterfeit currency notes were also seized by police. Mohammad Altaf, a student of ENT school, Rajouri, and police cop Pawan Kumar were arrested yesterday following the recovery of fake currency notes from them. The notes were in the denomination of Rs 1,000 and Rs 500. Their sustained interrogation today led cops to the arrest of two more persons, according to police sources. They were identified as Satish Kumar, son of Krishan of Dangri, and Rohit, son of Subash Chander of ward No 7, Rajouri. Satish was alleged to be the kingpin. From Satish's house, a printer, a scanner, a laptop, some fine papers and half-printed notes of Rs 1,000 and Rs 5,00 were allegedly recovered, the sources added. Sources said the number on all the Rs 500 fake notes was JKK534557, while on the Rs 1,000 notes, it was 5DD899437. Two persons were now evading arrest in the case. They included cop Netar Prakash and Sahil, son of Subash Chander. Netar is PSO of senior BJP leader Kuldeep Raj Gupta. Though Gupta too was questioned by police, it became known later that he was not aware of the unlawful activities of his PSO. At least forty fake notes were yesterday recovered by police from the Netar's belongings which he had kept in the Gupta's house. Police investigation into the case was still on and some more arrests were expected, the sources added. |
