Yusuf death row
10/28/2011 11:51:31 PM
Jammu: A petition seeking CBI probe into alleged custodial death of National Conference worker, Syed Yusuf came up for hearing IN Srinagar's Anti-Corruption court.
The Counsel for Yusuf's son, Advocate Mushtaq Ahmad Dar sought permission for running the recorded statement of `key witness' Abdul Salam Reshi. He also presented arguments for admission of the case. The arguments shall continue Saturday October 29 as well.
The court rejected Dar's request of running the statement of Reshi.
Talking to media persons, Advocate Dar said he wants an FIR registered against all the accused. "A case must be registered under Anti-Corruption laws and Section 302 Ranbir Penal Code(RPC), he said. "We tried our best to get a case registered in Ram Munshi Bagh Police Station. Later we also approached Batmaloo Police Station as well as Yusuf died in the jurisdiction of this police station. However, we had to return disappointed", he added.
Dar said the Anti-Corruption Judge is a special magistrate and under Article 156 of the constitution he can order investigation. Names of Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, former Chief Minister Farooq Abdullah and MoS Home Nasir Aslam Wani have figured. The investigation must start from them", he said.
Yusuf exchanged heated arguments with the Chief Minister, Omar Abdullah at his Gupkar residence on September 29 over an alleged `money deal'. He was handed over to Crime Branch where he succumbed. His death created a stir in the Valley.
