Teacher killed, husband serious in car-truck collision at Vijaypur | | | Early Times Report JAMMU, Oct 28: The moments of happiness today turned to sadness after a truck, that came from the wrong side, hit a Maruti car close to 17 Miles restaurant at Vijaypur near here, resulting in the instant death of a woman teacher and critical injuries to her husband while they were going to participate in the ring ceremony function of their daughter. Raman Verma -- a SBI loan manager -- and his wife Kaushalaya Chopra were on their way from Samba to Jammu in their Maruti car (JK02R/6668) to take part in the ring ceremony function of their daughter Ritika at Asia Hotel. Their relatives -- Sandhya Devi and Luxmi -- were also travelling with them. Near 17 Miles restaurant, their car was hit by a speeding truck (JK02D/4833), that came from the wrong side, at about 6.15 pm. While Kaushalaya died on the spot, Verma, Sandhya and Luxmi survived with critical wounds. She was a senior teacher in a government school. The injured were hospitalised. The function at Asia Hotel was later cancelled. Police seized the truck while its driver managed to escape. A police hunt was on to nab him.
