Militancy curbed by 50 percent claims Kuldeep Khoda | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Srinagar | October 29, 2011 12:01:13 AM IST rJammu and Kashmir Director General of Police Kuldeep Khoda has said that militancy in the state has dipped by 50 percent in comparison to the previous year. During an interaction with media here, Khoda said that militancy has dipped by 50 percent in the region. "We have attained a lot of success in curbing militancy this year. Militancy has come down by almost 50 percent in comparison to the previous year. The success rate of Jammu and Kashmir police and the supporting security forces has been good this year, people have cooperated well. With respect to individual militant organisations like the Hizbul Mujahideen, I would like to say that militancy has not ended, we still have a number of listed militants," he added. He underlined that the achievement does not call for any relaxation as the militancy menace might be low, but not completely washed out from the state. As you saw this year there was a rise in infiltration attempts which was stopped well by the security forces, hence to presume that the work is finished on the militancy front is wrong as the security forces and Jammu and Kasmir police still need to work on it," he said.
