| Court sentences thief for stealing Railway Tickets, Cash | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
Jammu, Oct 29: Special Mobile Magistrate Passenger Tax Jammu VS Manhas today awarded imprisonment for one year and five months with fine Rs 5000/- to Sonu of New Plot Jammu who stolen purse of complainant in which Railway Tickets and cash Rs 25000.
According to the police case that a complaint was lodged before the P/S GRP Jammu by the complainant stating that she was going to Saharnpur and lost her ticket and money when she was to board Shalimar Train and 9:00 PM along with her aunt and mother from plat form No 3 when somebody stole away her purse containing tickets and money Rs 25000/-, upon this GRP Registered a case and started search of thief. On June 3, 2010 when police party on Patrol Duty at Plat Form NO 2 & 3 found a person roaming on Platform No 3 under suspicious circumstances and he was arrested who told his name as Sony of Newplot Jammu. He was also questioned about the stolen property; he confessed the theft committed by him at Plat form No 3 by taking the benefit of crowd gathering over there. He admitted that he stole away the purse which he checked while going out from the Platform which contained Rs 25000 cash along with ticket of Railway and identity card which was destroyed by him and also spend Rs 10,000 out of the said amount stolen by him. After completion of investigation challan was presented and today the Court after hearing PO Yogesh Bamba awarded one year and five months imprisonment and fine Rs 5000 to the accused.
