Hajj pilgrims conned, police files cheating case | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT SRINAGAR: oct 29:Police on Saturday arrested one of the partners of Al-Hajj tours and travels, a company providing Hajj and Umrah Services, for “cheating” at least 97 aspiring Hajjis in Kashmir valley.
“We arrested one of the partners of the Al-Hajj tours and travels, Zahoor Ahmad Darzi son of Ghulam Mohammad of Chanapora Srinagar for cheating 97 persons,” Station House Officer Sherghari, Zahoor Ahmad, when contacted, said.
He said that an FIR 126/2011 under section 420 CrPC was registered against the company.
The police officer said that the people have deposited Rs 1.75 lakhs per head with the company which had promised them to send and arrange all the facilities for holy pilgrimage this year.
Many people, intending to undertake the holy pilgrimage, have been left stranded by the private tour operators.
Scores of people staged massive protests here against another company, Hajeej India Hospitality Pvt Ltd, for allegedly duping them.
