Jammu, Jan 5
All Jammu Hotels and Lodges Association has welcomed the central government's decision to convert Manda Wild Life Sanctuary into a national wild life park and extending its area to 2000 hectares up to Nandani. A meeting of the hoteliers association held here today under the Chairmanship of its President, Inderjeet Khajurai said that this meets the long standing and repeated demand of AJHLA in this regard. It observed that it will be a step towards making Jammu an independent tourist destination. The association demanded that many other promised projects towards making Jammu as independent tourist destination be expedited, so that before the rail is extended upto Katra, which will adversely affect the economy of Jammu city as a transit camp for Vaishno Devi pilgrims, Jammu becomes an independent tourist destination and compensates the loss to the city. In this regard the association demanded that the project of underground aquarium in Bagh-e-Bahu should be completed within shortest possible period, Mubarak Mandi heritage complex should also be commissioned soon besides construction of rope way and installation of cable car between Mubarak Mandi to Bagh-e-Bahu and upto Mahamaya hill top. The association also contented that the creation of artificial lake in river Tawi from main bridge to Sidhra bridge, with ferrying of boats in the same will be the most effective step to make Jammu city as hub of independent tourist destination. The others who attended the meeting included Pawan Gupta, Gen Secretary, Ajay Gupta, Sr. Vice President, H. S. Manhas, Vice President, Ajay Suri, Secretary, Vikram Singh, Publicity Secretary, and Baldev, Treasurer.
