JU's tainted former Registrar likely to be axed from CJU | | | Jammu: The ghost of alleged bungling has been chasing the former Registrar of Jammu University (JU) Dr P S Pathania in Central University of Jammu (CJU) as well. It is been almost three months when he came to CJU on deputation as OSD (Administration). The four member high level enquiry committee which is probing irregularities in JU, is already looking into the acts of corruption allegedly committed by him during his tenure in JU. If sources are to be believed, Pathania's deputation would not be extended beyond November 30. The National Secular Forum (NSF), which has been spearheading the movement against corruption in the University, has alleged that Pathania swindled the money out of SPIC MACAY event. The event was hosted by the University five years ago when he was Dean Student Welfare. According to sources, he withdrew 20 lakh rupees in the name of event. He used the money and didn't settle the account. When, Dr JS Tara assumed the charge of Dean Student Welfare, he used the opportunity and settled the amount of Rs 14 lakh with fictitious expenditures. Sources revealed that while settling account Pathania mentioned exaggerated cash payment to the participants, which is contrary to the payment norms of the University. He owes explanation in the matter. Also, the amount of Rs 6 lakh is still pending against his name which is a matter of concern. Pathania remained Registrar for the period between July 2009 to July 2011. The concerned officers took up this matter with the Vice Chancellor Dr Varun Sahni on various occasion. But, the matter remain undecided. However, the matter came to fore when Governor ordered full fledged enquiry into the affairs of the University. Currently, Pathania is on deputation to CJU. There is likelihood that he may be removed from the position of OSD as he retiring next month. |
