| Chander Mohan refuses to re-join BJP | | | Jammu, Jan 5 Unhappy with the present day state BJP leadership Praja Parishad chief and former BJP Vice-President Chander Mohan Sharma is believed to have communicated to the central party leadership that under the present circumstances and the quality of leadership in the state BJP unit it is difficult for him to rejoin the parent organisation. If Praja Parishad chief is to be believed he has already rejected feelers from the central leadership of the BJP on rejoining the party. Central BJP leaders Arun Jaitley and Sushma Swaraj both were in touch with me and were expressing their desire to see me back in the BJP, he said. Sharma also claimed that during the last two months more than 200 political activists of various hues and shades had joined the Praja Parishad and "we have decided to contest at least six Assembly seats in Jammu district during the next poll." It may be mentioned that BJP in Jammu and Kashmir had faced a major erosion in its vote bank after Chander Mohan Sharma, vice president of the organization quit the BJP and revived Praja Parishad.A divided house in the state BJP unit had leveled charges of anti party activities against Chander Mohan Sharma. The charges were however denied by Sharma from time to time. In these years, Praja Parishad Chief has been able to win back support of large number of grass root party workers forcing the central BJP leadership to make fresh attempts to woo him back in to the party fold. After the new state unit chief Ashok Khajuria was elected he too made attempts to pacify his old friend but in vain. |
