| SIKHs seek PUNJABI in schools | | |
Jammu, Jan 5 On the occasion of 341th birth anniversary of Guru Gobind Sigh here today Sikh leaders adopted a resolution demanding that Punjabi be introduced in all the schools in Jammu and Kashmir besides settlement of the problems confronting the refugees from Pakistan occupied Kashmir settled in Jammu since 1947. The resolution adopted in presence of Mr DilawarMir, Minister for Tourism, also demanded appointment of a member of the community as high court judge and a member of the public service commission. It also called for the release of sikhs detained injails since 1984 riots so that they also were given ahealing touch.It wanted better job avenues for Sikhs inthe state and reservation in the state legislature forthe community. The Sangat appreciated the role played by MahantManjit Singh for expanding educational facilities forthe community .Others who addressed the congregation included Mr Rangil Singh vice president PDP,Mr Kehar Sigh member DGPC, Mr Paramjit Singh President AISSF,Mr Mohinder Singh,Chief Organiser Bhai Kaniya Nishkam Sewa Society,Mr Jagdev Sigh,President state Akali Dal.
