‘Diwali Beemar Kar Gayi’ staged at Sunday Theatre
10/30/2011 10:05:11 PM
EARLY TIMES REPORT
Jammu, Oct 30: Keeping the spirit of doing constant innovation alive, one team of Natrang is at Kashmir, busy in organizing continuous shows of ‘Bhand Pather’, revolutionizing this rare cultural heritage.
Another team has very gracefully produced a new comedy play ‘Diwali Beemar Kar Gayi’ in its Sunday Theatre series.
The play has been written and directed by Sumeet Sharma.
The out of the box comedy made it difficult for the audience to control the laughter which was generated at every situation and comedy punch of the play.
The play presents the theme of Diwali in a very different manner, indifferent of the celebrations, which are intrinsic part of the festival of lights, the play touches the fashion of exchanging gifts & sweets.
This has become so popular that now the ‘give and take’ of the presents has become rather more important than the real festivity itself.
And there are some people, who have to present a gift as they have received one, they don’t do it by choice but by obligation.
And obviously anything out of obligation will not fetch good results and this is the story of ‘Mohan’, the main character of the play who has turned sick by consuming some sweets which were presented to him on the eve of Diwali and to make the situation worse for him those friends who were suspected to gift that stale sweets visit him and prescribe different remedies to him to get well soon. Moreover their personal indifferences made the situation chaotic but the same turns to be hilarious as Mohan’s health gets pathetic after every consecutive treatment.
Mohit Sharma as ‘Mohan’, Sumeet Sharma as ‘Kumar’, Pawan Verma as ‘Rashid’, Vipin Gupta as ‘Madhav’ and Chitra Thapar as ‘Naina’ were all very impressive in putting life to the play and making it a delight for the audience to watch it.
The lights were operated by Gaurav Jamwal and Rahul Singh did the presentations.
