Has Omar stopped tweeting? | | | Early Times Report Jammu, Oct 30: The Chief Minister has not (perhaps) visited his micro blogging website Twitter for the past one month. Omar has been expressing his opinion on a variety of subjects ranging from politics to Gol Gappas. However, he has chosen o remain silent for the time being. Sociologists say that a person gives up his favourite pastime when he is in distress. Omar also has been passing through a difficult period since September 29 when a National Conference worker (NC) allegedly got killed in Crime Branch custody. The deceased identified as Haji Yusuf, according to reports, was in Chief Minister's Gupkar residence on that fateful day. Reports said the duo exchanged heated arguments over an alleged money deal. Yusuf was handed over to Crime Brach where he succumbed. The death created a political storm in Kashmir with main opposition party demanding resignation of the Chief Minister and his MoS, Nasir Aslam Wani. The son of the deceased has moved court seeking CBI investigation into what he calls `cold blooded murder'. As if this was not enough to affect Omar's `creative skills' that he issued a statement assuring revocation of Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA). The statement evoked severe reaction from various quarters. The newly appointed spokesperson of NC, Dr Mustafa Kamal added to his woes by blaming the armed forces for the recent blasts in Srinagar and elsewhere in the Valley. A visibly shaken Omar had to disown Kamaal's statement. Reports further said that death of Yusuf has further strained his relations with senior Abdullah. Yusuf, it is believed, was very close to Farooq Abdullah and happened to be one of the few NC workers to have access to Sheikh Family kitchen. Yusuf, reports said, insisted on Dr Farooq's presence when he was discussing the alleged money deal with Omar on September 29. Yusuf's insistence, reports said, angered Omar to the extent that he handed him over to Crime Branch where he ultimately succumbed. So Omar has nothing, or very little, to tweet these days. His thousands of fans must be missing him. |
