| Militants escape from encounter site in Poonch | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
Jammu, Oct 31: A group of militants managed to give the slip security forces in a fierce gun battle in bordering Poonch district of Jammu and Kashmir, official sources here today said.
"Security forces last evening, on specific inputs regarding movement of militants, launched a search operation in Gursai forests of tehsil Mendhar," official sources here today said.
They said that the militants on seeing the patrol party fired upon them which was retaliated.
‘’The firing lasted for half an hour but taking advantage of darkness and forests, the militants escaped from the spot,’’ they added.
The searches were in progress.
