BSP protest against anti-poor people policies

Kathua, Oct 31: The Bahujan Samaj Party held a massive protest against the state and union government for adopting anti-poor people policies led by the state general secretary of BSP S.R. Manjotra.
Hundreds of activists of BSP started the procession from Kalibari to DC office and also blocked the college road in the front of Kathua secretariat for more than one and half hour to highlight their demands.
After the protest the activists of BSP also submitted their demand charters to both state and union government through DC Kathua in order to focus the attention of both the Govts on their genuine long pending demands.
Manjotra briefed the demands like at number of times the issue regarding to conduct the fresh BPL survey, scholarship of SCs and BCs be sanctioned without any conditions of securing 50% and 55% marks, the funds of old age/widow pension be released, the rates of bricks are charged as rupees 4600 per 1000 which is against the government rates of rupees 1760 the district administration should take action against the owners, Govt. should open the procurement centre, CAPD deptt. should display the village wise BPL lists to check the theft of BPL rations by the dealers, the date for revision of voter list be extended, the JEs, and VLWs be directed to work and prepare the estimates with the consultation with new Sarpanchs and Panches, and the compensation to the poor people whose houses are destroyed or collapsed due to heavy rain, floods.
On the occasion the Manjotra opposed the state government for adopting new unfair recruitment rule which is totally unjust and undemocratic and biggest onslaught on the right of the youth and mockery of all the common man of the J&K state.
He also criticized both the state and union regime for not addressing the above highlighted demands of the poor and down trodden people and warned to intensify their mass movements if the demands were further ignored.
On the occasion the district president of BSP Babu Ram, Sardar Amrik Singh Sunil along with hundreds of BSP activists were present.
