EP Tenants Welfare Society demand early redressal of their problems | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu, Oct 31: EP Tenants Welfare Society under the leadership of president Inder Mohinder Tar Singh staged a dharna today near Press Club to press upon the J&K Government to accept the demand of ownership rights to the tenants on E.P and B.C. Houses. Tar Singh while addressing the massive gatheirng said that we have suffered a lot and we want that we do not suffer anymore. We have been tortured a lot by the custodian department and now we have resolved to fight till last to achieve our just demands. The tenants are putting up in the houses which are in bad shape dilapidated condition of the houses speaks of the tenants undergoing what kind of attitude does the department has as despite of our repeated requests the repair work in not being undertaken. The rocked houses during last earthquake are in such a condition that these houses may collapse at anytime and if it happen the sole responsibility shall be that of the state Govt. and Custodian department which has become a den of corruption. We demand this department should be wounded up immediately as other states have already done so. We have apprehension that the department is waiting for the second earthquake may rock and demolish the said houses so that they can take over this property but we warm the state government that if it happens the consequences to be faced shall be their own responsibility and they will have to face the music said Tar Singh. Further, we want ownership right on these houses and state government should immediately agree to our just demand, we urge upon the chief minister Omar Abdullah to accept our demands. If required we may approach Human Rights Commission as well as other organization as we have been suffering and now our fourth generation is also facing the same. Also we may stop paying the rent as we have already paid the exorbitant amount which exceeds the cost of construction of these houses. We demand that the houses which are in bad condition should immediately be repaired so that there is no loss of life in case of any natural calamity added Tar Singh. We have no restrictions and we do not mind talking to Relief Revenue and Rehablitation Ministry and work out how ownership rights can be given to us.. Those who are trying to create confusion and deviate the movement that Jammu and Kashmir is a disputed territory we condemn the same and we want to clarify that our state is not a disputed territory and we urge upon the people to come forward and create a situation so that the pending case with UNO can be withdrawn as it is over six and half decades passed and case is still pending and the same can be withdrawn if Govt. of India heads in a right direction.
