Kishtwar, Oct 31: Working Chairman Panthers Party and MLA Ramnagar Harsh Dev Singh while ridiculed Chief Minister Omar Abdullah for announcing revocation of Armed Forces Special Power Act (AFSPA) from few areas of Jammu and Kashmir.
Taking strong note of the announcement, Dev said Omar had no authority to revoke the AFSPA unilaterally. "The situation is not ripe for revocation of AFSPA", he made clear.
Quoting Defense Ministry reports Dev said a number of `insurgents were waiting to cross the LoC. Armed forces must stay in Jammu and Kashmir. I would like AFSPA to stay, because it is not only providing security to the civilians, but it also provides great sense of security among the common masses", he said.
He said NC and Congress lacked understanding of vital issues. He said coalition government was divided over AFSPA. He urged the union government to dissolve the present coalition government.
He said that Chief Minister Omar Abdullah cannot revoke the AFSPA without consulting other political parties on board. "As a chief Minister he (Omar ) cannot take a decision on his own on such a vital issue", he said.
In response to the direction issued by the honorable Supreme Court on the writ petition filed by JKNPP Supermo Prof Bhim Singh seeking intervention of SC into the suspicious death of National Conference Worker Hajji Mohammad Yousf under mysterious circumstance, Harsh Dev Singh lambasted Chief Minister Omar Abdullah for playing 'delaying tactics' into the probe of mysterious death of Hajji Mohammad yousaf on 30-09-2011.
