Party leaders up ante against Taj | 'No one can has right to contradict party line……' | | Jammu: It now appears to be a confrontation Taj vs rest of leaders in the state Congress. While on one side, no matter under attack from all sides and both the regions , PHE Minister has refused to budge from what can be seen as anti Soz stance and pro Chief Minister posturings, and on the other side he is being contuously lambasted by his party colleagues for having virtually opened up a 'front' against the party. The party leaders and PCC functionaries have expressed unequivocal support to the PCC chief and hit out at Taj for what they have termed as defying the party line on AFSPA and other issues. Extending unflinching support to the stance taken by President of Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) Prof. Prof. Saifuddin Soz over the issue of AFSPA revocation, Minister for Medical and Technical Education R.S.Chib has said that people should weigh their words before making them public. Speaking to a news agency here today, Chib said that president JKPCC as well as the All India Congress Committee (AICC) have both spoken in one voice and made known to everyone the position of congress vis-à-vis revocation of AFSPA and other contentious issues. He said that being an equal partner in coalition, JKPCC president with full backing of members of JKPCC has the right to make party's stand known to one and all. Chib reiterated that as leader of the Congress party and chairman of coordination committee, it is Soz who has to speak over the issues between the coalition partners, if there are any. "None of us being members of congress can speak on behalf of the leadership member of the party. Besides, we are first members of a party and then, MLAs, MLCs and ministers. We all have to function within the framework of the party," said Chib. Senior leaders and PCC functionaries including Vice President Dharam Pal Sharma-Ex-MP in a party function at headquarters said that the entire party endorse the stand of the PCC President Prof. Saifuddin Soz regarding Armed Forces Special Power Act (AFSPA) and other related matters. Without naming Taj but apparently referring to his comments , Sharma said no one has the right to contradict the president over the party line, which has been endorsed by the AICC also. Om Chopra, senior party leader referring to certain recent developments and said that party is unitedly behind the stand of PCC Chief Prof. Saifuddin Soz and the Congress high command should take note of the aspirations of the party on all issues and also take note of the acts of individualism by some leaders who should realize that no one is above the party. Former Minister and senior Congress leader Manjit Singh has cautioned the people to remain vigilant from those elements who in the name of revocation of AFSPA are trying to demoralise the Army. While addressing a party workers' meet at Rakh Badoi near Vijaypur, Manjit Singh called upon the people to give a befitting reply to the nefarious designs of such forces. Singh further said that it is because of the untiring efforts of the Army that our borders are safe. Without naming any political party, the Congress leader alleged that some parties are demanding revocation of special powers from Army as a part of their cheap politics which is not correct as such a step could resurface the menace of militancy in the state. In Kashmir J&K Pradesh Congress Committee observed 27th Death Anniversary of martyr of India Indira Gandhi at party Headquarters, in which prominent leaders appreciated the role of leaders and prominent workers from all the three regions for their whole hearted support to the PCC President Prof. Saifuddin Soz for strengthening Congress Party throughout the state. The leaders while speaking on the occasion asserted that party is supreme and no one is above party . They said that the PCC President Prof. Saifuddin Soz represents views of rank and file of the party in consonance with his commitment to the ideals before the Congress party. |
