| DDK authorities refuse to provide information under RTI | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
Srinagar, Nov 1: Authorities of Doordarshan Kendra Srinagar have refused to provide information under J&K Right to Information Act 2009 to an applicant.
The applicant Showkat Masoodi had approached the Public Information Officer of the DD seeking information regarding a program based on “Navratara Festival Preparation” which was telecast from DD Kashmir and Regional Service Channels Srinagar.
The applicant had sought details of date and times of telecast of the programme, name of editor, producer, cameramen and other crew members, location and date of shooting of the programme, date of post production, details of the artists who were part of the programme and name of the payees.
However, the PIO instead of providing these details sent official communication comments of the producer to the applicant.
“This was assigned programme to Sh Rajiv Sadhu and the programmer was asked to cover in the J&K state. It is a festival which has to go on air in any case,” the reply states.
“The RTI as such is a manipulated one encouraged by an insider,” it added.
The applicant has now approached the State Information Commission with a complaint against the DD authorities.
