Painting, Sketching competition organised | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT JAMMU, Nov 1:Internal Quality Assurance Cell of Government Degree College Udhampur in collaboration with RINCHEN bZANGPO ART GALLERY, University of Jammu & Royal Dogra Club organized an on the spot Inter-college painting and sketching competition as a part of month long training programme Pratibha 2011 . The topic of the competition was “Preservation of Cultural Heritage ”. 40 students drawn from Government Degree College Ramnagar, Govt. College For Women Udhampur and the host College participated in the competition. Principal of the host college Dr. Nutan K. Resutra congratulated the organisors for using art as a medium for awareness of the youth. “Preservation of our cultural heritage needs our immediate attention and the youth can play a significant role”, he said. The main objective of the competition was to make the students aware of their rich heritage and motivate them for its preservation. Pratibha 2011 aims to promote our rich culture and heritage and under one month long event. Suresh Kumar got first, Shivangi Thakur got second, and Dinesh Singh and Divansh Sadhotra shared the third position whereas Pankaj Sharma and Prashant Sharma got consolation prizes in Sketching contest. In Painting Ridhi Dutta got first , Jatinder Kour second and Sunakshi Sharma (all three from GCW Udhampur) got third prize whereas Resham Bahadur from GDC Udhampur and Gopal Krishan Matyal from GDC Ramnagar got consolation prizes. Prof. Sudhir Singh, Deepak Sharma and Rohit Sharma a freelance painter were among the Jury. Deepak Sharma, event coordinator and Farooq Ahmed the painting Instructor were also present on the occasion. The prizes to the winners will be given in the Grand Finale of Pratibha 2011.
