| Div Com reviews Muharram arrangements | | | Srinagar, January 06 Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir Mr. Basharat Ahmad at a high level officers meeting here today took review of the arrangements for the ensuing Muharram. Besides, MLA Zadibal, Mr. Shahjahan Dar, representatives from various religious organizations also attended the meeting. The meeting took review of the arrangements made regarding road improvement, supply of water, electricity and essentials as well as sanitation, medicare and transport. The meeting was told that necessary repair and improvements on roads through which Tazia processions will pass including Zadibal, Baghi Hyder, Bagwanpora and Mir Behri will be completed on war footing. Similarly, ample quantity of rice, sugar, atta, k-oil, LPG and firewood would be kept available in the Shia dominated areas, the meeting was told. Besides, round the clock supply of electricity would be ensured during the holy days. Adequate number of streetlights will be installed in the Shia dominated areas, the meeting was told. It was further told that in areas where drinking water lines are not available, tanker service would be pressed into service. The meeting also took review of the snow clearance measures to be under taken in the event of snowfall. Srinagar Municipality and other Municipal Committees of the respective districts were asked to ensure proper sanitation in and around the Imambaras. The Health department was also directed to ensure proper health-care facilities in and around Imambaras and places of large congregations. Transport facility till late hours will be ensured during the Muharram days. DIG Central Ranges, Deputy Commissioner Srinagar, Additional Deputy Commissioner Budgam, SSPs of Srinagar and Budgam, Chief Engineer of R&B, PHE, Electric, Director Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution and representatives from various agencies attended the meeting. |
