| Gangyal PS gheraoed after minor succumbs to injuries | | | Early Times Report
JAMMU, Nov 1: Agitated over the failure of police to apprehend the motorcyclist, who was evading arrest after hitting and killing a minor in Gangyal area a few days back, people today demonstrated outside Gangyal police station and gheraoed it Nikhil (4), son of Joginder Lal, was wounded critically after he was hit by motorcyclist Sahil Choudhary on October 24 last.
He was admitted to the GMC hospital here and later referred to a hospital in Delhi. SP (south) Rajeshwar Singh said Sahil was arrested and booked under section 279 of RPC. He was, however, bailed out by the court.
When Nikhil later died while undergoing treatment in Delhi, police changed the section to 304-A of RPC and sent a team to arrest Sahil but his house was found locked, the SP added.
He said police were making efforts to find out his whereabouts and arrest him.
The protesters, however, alleged that police were dragging their feet in the case. When the SP visited the spot and assured them that the accused would be arrested soon, the people dispersed peacefully. |
