CAPD official's transport company, his brother's residence searched | Misappropriation of govt ration worth Rs 8.6 lakh detected | | Sumit Sharma JAMMU, Nov 1: The State Vigilance Organization (SVO) today conducted simultaneous raids at the residence of an official of Consumer Affairs and Public Distribution (CAPD) department, his brother's residence besides his transport company in Vijaypur and Bari Brahmna areas respectively. Official sources said that three separate Vigilance teams launched search operations at Tehsil Supply Officer (TSO) Jagdish Singh Jamwal's residence at Vijaypur, Samba, his brother Rai Singh Jamwal's residence in village Mean Sarkar and his transport company namely M/S New Jamwal Transport company in Bari Brahmana today. The search operations were conducted on the directions of court after a First Information Report (FIR) having No 24/2011 under Section 5 (2) and 5 (1) (e) Prevention of Corruption Act registered against TSO for misappropriation of government ration worth lakhs by him and possession of disproportionate assets than his known sources of income. The raids continued till late tonight. Sources said the documents pertaining to bank accounts of TSO, his family members and his brother which including insurance policies and other investments were seized during search. Sources said that SVO detected a whooping amount of rupees eight lakh five hundred and fifty five, during scrutiny of the documents, collected from CAPD official and his brother's residences. The amount seized by the SVO was raised by TSO was out of his unknown source of income. Sources said that the same amount was generated by TSO through misappropriation of government ration meant for Above Poverty Line (APL) and Below Poverty Line (BPL) people. The unknown source of amount could go high as the seized amount detected was of till 2009. Sources said documents collected from the houses and Transport Company would be put together for scrutiny to establish exact details of unaccounted wealth possessed by the CAPD official as SVO had reports that TSO and his family members owned five luxurious cars besides other vehicles employed in transportation. The search operations were monitored by senior officer of the Vigilance Organisation. Further investigations were in progress. |
