| GoM on media discusses J&K situation | | | Early Times Report
NEW DELHI, Nov 1: While the Jammu & Kashmir unit of the Congress is crying foul over lack of coordination between the alliance partners, the Group of Ministers (GoM) on media, informally met on Monday to discuss the current situation of the state. In this stock-taking exercise, sources in the
GoM media said that the some members too felt that there can be better coordination between the two parties in the state.The GoM, however, refrained from holding a formal press conference on the issue.
A member of the GoM said on Tuesday, "If we say that we are satisfied the way the government is running, it would be an incorrect statement."
Sources in the GoM also said that in a coalition there is a need to take a collective approach and make the junior partner feel it too, is on board at decision making level.
"But this approach is perhaps lacking in the functioning of the state government," said a central minister.
In the meeting, home minister P Chidambaram is believed to have explained the technical process involved in the withdrawal of the Armed Forces Special Powers Act (AFSPA).
Top UPA sources also ruled out pressurising J&K chief minister Omar Abdullah to hand over the seat to a Congress nominee even as the state unit is demanding for the CM's chair. |
