Conference on participative vigilance held | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu, Nov 2: As part of Vigilance Awareness Week, the DFCCIL organised a conference on participative vigilance. The conference was attended by all senior officers of the Corporation, including field units from all over the country. Speaking on the occasion, the managing director, R.K.Gupta, stated that the Dedicated Freight Corridor Corporation of India Ltd. is committed to maintain highest standards of professionalism, honesty and integrity in its sphere of work and ethical behaviour by its employees. It has recently taken a number of initiatives in this regard like announcement of the Whistle Blower Policy and institution of Complaint Handling Mechanism. It now has a dedicated vigilance unit with a full time Chief Vigilance Officer. Vigilance matters are being reported to the Board of Directors at regular intervals, apart from submission of monthly and quarterly reports to Railway Board and CVC. Details of all contracts over a crore of rupee are made available through the web site of the Corporation. In order to avoid problems in land acquisition, which is one of the most important activities currently, detailed guidelines have been issued. Preventive and predictive vigilance has been strengthened through regular inspections by vigilance wing, apart from senior officers. Referring to future activities aimed at creating corruption free environment, Gupta stated that the Corporation would soon bring out its own vigilance manual apart from institution of robust internal system of checks and balances and processes. Gupta exhorted the senior officers of the Corporation to lead the way in creating an environment of integrity and efficiency and said that the nation had very high expectations from the project which was necessary to prevent choking of the railway system in future. He highlighted the fact that the Corporation was at a turning point in its history and said that even though there has been some problems in past which may require due follow up for some time to come, there were no enquiries over three months from CVC or Railway Board pending with the Corporation. Gupta emphasized the fact that it was not possible to achieve efficiency without integrity. The conference ended with a pledge by all the participants to eradicate corruption and work towards building image of the organization
