5 drug peddlers arrested, 7,000 banned pills recovered | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT SRINAGAR:, Nov 02: Jammu and Kashmir police recovered more than 7,000 banned painkillers and one kilogram of cannabis from five drug peddlers at various check points in north Kashmir’s Sopore town, about 55 kilometers from here, on Wednesday. Over 7,000 Spasmo Proxyvon tablets, used by drug addicts for psychotropic high, were recovered from five men who were frisked at these check points.
SHO Sopore Police Station Manzoor Ahmad said that the drive was carried out after locals tipped off the police about the drug peddling being carried out by certain people in the town.
Five people, who were arrested, were identified as Mohammad Yusuf Shiekh, Ghulam Mohammad Sheikh, Muzafar Bhat, Irfan Zargar and Parvaiz Ahmad Khan. All of them are locals.
“They have been booked under NDPC act separately,” he said.
Spasmo Proxyvon contains dextropropoxyphene which is a weak opioid (opium-like) agent.
Pertinently, police yesterday arrested ten drug peddlers in Srinagar and recovered 1200 Spasmo Proxyvon tablets from them.
