JAMMU, Oct 28: Hari Singh Warriors today defeated Sainik School Nagrota 71-40 to clinch the junior boys’ title in the ongoing Vinsanity Basketball Tournament, organised by Vinsanity Basketball Club at BSF Stadium, here.
In the well contested final, Hari Singh Warriors dominated the court in the last two quarters of the second half of the game thereby managed a huge 31 points lead.
It was Abhishek’s brilliant performance that helped Hari Singh Warriors make it a big win. He contributed 21 points while Stanzin Nurbu contributed 15 points to the team’s total playing an equally good game.
From Sainik School, Kumar Gaurav and Umar Noor were main contributors to the team’s score with 16 and 10 points in their respective accounts.
Meanwhile, chairman of the organizing club, retired DIG of BSF, D K Parihar said that a beginning has made to encourage otherwise neglected game of basketball through this event. He disclosed that club contemplates a plan to set up an academy of basketball in the state in near future with an aim to give impetus to this thrilling game.
It is pertinent to mention here that the J&K Basketball Association could not hold any activity for the last 10 years.
