Powergrid organizes debate competition | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT Jammu, Nov 2: As a part of its Vigilance awareness week celebrations, Power Grid Corporation of India Ltd, Northern Region-II, Jammu organized a debate competition at J.P. World school. The topic of the competition was “Is Vigilance Department a check to bureaucracy” The program started by the welcome of the Chief Guest, followed by lighting of the lamp. Saraswati Vandana was performed by the elegant JP-IIANS much to the appreciation of the audience. The principal R. Saxena welcomed the chief guest and appreciated the contribution of Powergrid in the growth of our economy. The Chief Guest S. D. Joshi, Additional General Manager (C&M),Powergrid, highlighted various achievements of Powergrid. He further stressed upon the JP-IIANS to use the power judiciously and stick to the salogan “Save Electricity”. He also congratulated the organizers for selecting the burning issue as the topic for debate as it shall inculcate the values among the new generation of our country. The debate was well prepared and students spoke their heart’s comment whether it was ‘for or against’ it. Besides the debate, the students danced to the tune of “Bharat Hamko Jaan se Payarahai” and the Grand Finale was a Dogri Dance. The announcement of winners was made by Stanley Mathews, chief manager (HR).He also gave tips to the participants for better communication skills and debating. Krishika Sambyal of Jehlum House , Seerat Baji and Anmo lIbikunle of Tawi house were adjudged First, Second and Third respectively.. Vote of thanks was delivered by Sudhir Dhar, DM (Vigilance). The members of the jury were Sudhir Dhar and S. Mathew. The show was compared by Mubeen Butt HoD – S. Studies. Santosh Dogra coordinated the event on behalf of J.P. World.
