Early Times Report JAMMU, Nov 2: Jayesh outplayed Shorya Sharma in a close contest by (3-2) and clinched the men’s title while Ritvik Gupta outclassed Manandeep easily by (3-1) to lift the cadet boys title in the 6th Jammu District Table Tennis Championship, which concluded at Indoor-Complex, MA Stadium, here today. The Championship was organised by J&K Table Tennis Association in collaboration with J&K State Sports Council, under the overall supervision of Ajay Sharma, General Secretary, J&K Table Tennis Association. Kiran Wattal, Secretary J&K State Sports Council was the chief guest on the occasion, who later-on distributed prizes among the winners. The chief guest also honoured the officials of the championship including Satish Gupta, Meenu Sharma and Narinder Singh. VK Mangoo, Working President J&K Table Tennis Association was the guest of honour. Earlier, in the men’s category final, Jayesh defeated Shourya by 7-11, 11-7, 8-11, 11-6 and 11-9, while in cadet boys final, Ritvik beat Manandeep by 11-3, 11-4, 7-11 and 13-11. Meanwhile, in women category final, Chandpreet trounced Shzar by three straight sets by 11-4, 11-5 and 11-6, while in sub junior boys category final, Anuj drubbed Ritvik Gupta by 8-11, 11-8, 11-8 and 11-7. In sub junior girls category final, Shreya beat Jahanvi by 11-3, 6-11, 12-10 and 11-4, while in Junior boys category final, Jayesh toppled Ritvik Gupta by three straight sets 11-7, 11-7 and 11-5. In junior girls finals, Surbhi Charak drubbed Shzar by 11-9, 11-9,7-11,7-11 and 14-12. In veteran men’s category final, Subash Batra trounced JR Kalsee by 11-9, 11-9 and 11-9 in a tough contest. Over one hundred students drawn from educational institutions and government departments from Jammu district participated in this championship which concluded with an impressive valedictory function. Prominent among others present on the occasion were Rajan Sharma, Sports Officer Jammu, Ashok Singh, Manager Indoor Complex Jammu, Ajay Sharma, General Secretary, J&K Table Tennis Association, Sheetal Gandhotra, SP Singh, Sunil Sharma, VB Sadhotra and Sanjay Gupta.
