| GDC Poonch to lock-horns with PG Arts in hockey semis | | |  Early Times Report
JAMMU, Nov 02: Post Graduate (PG) Departments of Arts shall face Government Degree College (GDC) Poonch in the semi-finals of the ongoing men’s inter-college competitions under the banner of Department of Sports and Physical Education, University of Jammu on the campus, here tomorrow.
In other semi-final, Trikuta Degree College shall lock horns against GDC Kathua. The semi-finals shall start at 10 am at the same venue.
Earlier, in the quarterfinals, played today, Trikuta College blanked GDC Hiranagar 5-0. Parvinder Singh was star striker, who netted three goals in the 14th, 16th and 39th minute of the match. Sachin Kumar (52nd) and Gurjit Singh (59th) added one goal each to make it a big win.
In the second last eight stages match, GDC Kathua outplayed Government MAM College 6-1. Sahil Sharma (14th and 52nd) and Navdeep Singh (40th and 42nd) were main contributors while Vivek Sharma (9th) and Sunil Sharma (65th) made one goal each. From MAM College, Navdeep Singh reduced the margin sounding the board in the 69th minute.
However, GDC Poonch underwent difficult times against equally good Government SPMR College of Commerce before they make it a 1-0 win. The only goal of the match came through Navjot Singh in the 51st minute.
The fourth quarterfinal of the day was won by defending champion, PG Arts beating MBS College of Engineering and Technology 6-3. Ranveet Singh made hat trick netting the ball for three goals striking in a row in 38th, 40th and 44th minute. Harinderpal Singh (12th) and Ranbir Singh (22nd) were other scorers. From MBS College, Gurleen Singh (45th and 58th) and Gurvinder Singh (14th) were the scorers.
