| Div Com convenes DLCAN Task Force meet | | | EARLY TIMES REPORT
JAMMU, NOVEMBER 02- Divisional Commissioner Jammu, Dr. Pawan Kotwal today convened a meeting of the Division Level Committee of Anti-Narcotics Task Force at Jammu here today.
The state has two Divisional Level Narcotic Committees headed by Divisional Commissioners of Jammu and Srinagar for implementation of laws relating to prevention of cultivation of Narcotic Substances and drug trafficking in the state.
Among others Inspector General of Police, Jammu Zone, Mr. Dilbag Singh, Deputy Commissioners of the districts of Jammu division, SSPs, SDMs, Dy SPs, ADDCs attended the meeting.
The Divisional Commissioner apprised the meeting about the revised central assistance schemes to the states provided for controlling the interstate and cross border drug trafficking and strengthening the enforcement capabilities in combating illicit trafficking in narcotics and psychotropic substances.
He also exhorted for keeping a record of the illicit cultivation by the revenue officers with entries in the revenue records and warned that stern action will be taken if the entries do not reflect the correct position regarding the illicit cultivation of opium, poppy, Bhang etc in the Jammu division. He also asked for involving the panchs and sarpanchs in identifying the illicit cultivation and measures to check the same.
